With cold or heat, rain or sunshine, KRAFT will give you the solution!
Weather conditions (especially the harsh ones) influence, to a smaller or greater degree, painting. However, the weather can under no circumstances become an obstacle against painting and changing your mood at home, winter or summer!
Just keep in mind KRAFT’s practical advice and tips that follow and save time and money during your painting!
Follow with caution the instructions on the labels of the products!
Paints and varnishes are “sensitive” to temperature and during their application, you must always follow the instructions written on the labels of the products. The ideal air temperature for painting is between 20C and 25C!
Postpone painting during very cold or very hot days!
When it is too cold, surfaces are also cold, the paints become more viscous and the solvents take much more time to evaporate. The opposite happens during very hot days. In general, extreme temperatures tend to increase the chance of problems, appearing on the end result of the painting (lines, wrinkles, reduced shine, worse paint features etc)
Avoid painting under very humid conditions!
When the humidity levels are very high, paints tend to dry more slowly and unevenly. This is particularly valid for acrylic paints, which should not be applied when it is raining or it is about to rain. Also, caution is needed when painting wooden surfaces, because wood tends to contain more internal humidity and this can cause problems to the end result.
Take care for the good ventilation of the room you paint!
With a gentle breeze, paints dry more quickly and evenly, while also the VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) are more easily drawn away. On the other hand, when there is high wind, this can deteriorate the quality of the end finish of the paints.
